ASC’s Rob Legato and Bill Pope Win at VES Awards

Visual effects supervisor Robert Legato, ASC and director of photography Bill Pope, ASC were among the big winners at the 15th Annual VES Awards, held on February 7 by the Visual Effects Society at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills. The professional organization not only recognized talent in 24 awards categories but heralded their own 20th anniversary.

Legato, Joyce Cox, Andrew R. Jones, Adam Valdez and JD Schwalm earned the VES award for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature for their work in The Jungle Book.

Legato, Pope, Gary Roberts and John Brennan earned the VES award for Outstanding Virtual Cinematography in a Photoreal Project for their work in The Jungle Book.

In all, The Jungle Book was the evening’s biggest winner, taking home five awards.
