Deep-Light: Natasha Braier, ASC, ADF Launches New Cinematography Platform
The project will aim to better connect industry peers and foster meaningful dialogue about the joys and challenges of the craft.
ASC member Natasha Braier is set to introduce Deep-Light — a global platform tailored for cinematographers and their collaborators. Launching on June 22, the new online space will serve as a mentorship hub, artistic salon and international community-building forum, dedicated to sharing knowledge and fostering support between peers in the field.
“It’s more than a masterclass," Braier says of the virtual space. "It’s a support system created by, and for, cinematographers navigating the creative and emotional terrain of our craft."

Leading up to Deep-Light's unveiling, cinematographers across five continents, and at all levels of experience, have already connected via Braier's Deep-Light Discord community, where they have shared advice, opportunities and peer-to-peer guidance. Several Discord members have also had the chance to shadow Braier in person on recent shoots, as part of the growing community’s mentorship offerings. Now, members of the official platform will be afforded a number of unique experiences, listed below.
Cameramamas
Kicking off on launch day, June 22 (12pm PST), as part of Deep-Light's "Deep Talks" series, Cameramamas will offer a live online conversation that explores the rarely-discussed challenges of balancing motherhood with a life behind the camera. Braier will host the event, alongside emerging voices Kate Arizmendi, ASC and Rina Yang, BSC, who will help lead the discussion. Also joining the panel to answer crucial questions on this topic:
- ASC President Mandy Walker (Australia, Hidden Figures, Elvis)
Reed Morano, ASC (Meadowland, The Handmaid's Tale, I Think We're Alone Now)
Polly Morgan, ASC, BSC (Where the Crawdads Sing, The Woman King, Back to Black)
Rachel Morrison, ASC (Fruitvale Station, Mudbound, Black Panther)
Ari Wegner, ASC, ACS (The Power of the Dog, The Wonder, Drive-Away Dolls)
Allison Anderson (Night Swim, The Field at Sunset, As We Speak)
Fiorella Occhipinti (Marina's "Man's World" music video, Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso Dream" TV spot)
“A lot of filmmakers — and not just women — are wondering whether it’s really possible to have a thriving career and a family,” says Braier. “In this talk, you’ll hear from seven cinematographers who will share seven very different ways of making it work.”
