Delphine Figueras, an ASC employee since 1999, has been named general manager of the organization. In her new role, she will oversee the Society’s business strategy, day-to-day needs and employees. She reports directly to the Society’s Board of Governors and president.

“It is my pleasure to welcome Delphine back to the ASC Clubhouse full time as the Society’s new general manager,” says ASC President Shelly Johnson. “She has a long history of profound dedication to the ASC, and her enthusiasm and energy set the tone for members and staff to rally together and do more than we knew we could. Her caring manner and thoughtful management expertise speaks for who we are and our place in the film industry — a place she has been instrumental in creating.”

Figueras started at the ASC as a part-time receptionist and as a customer-service representative in the circulation department of American Cinematographer. She soon began working closely with the Society’s sponsorship and events director, Patricia Armacost, who has now been on staff for 48 years. With Armacost as her mentor, Figueras took an active role in various ASC programs and initiatives, including its Membership, Vision and Student Heritage Award committees and its Master Classes.

She has played a key role at the annual ASC Awards show, helping to organize the event, serving for five years as onstage co-host (alongside ASC members Julio Macat, John Simmons and Matthew Libatique), and co-writing the show’s script. She now co-produces the event with Armacost.

Figueras is the founder and CEO of Industry Insiders, a production and consulting firm specializing in awards and event strategies. The firm’s clients include the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, for which Figueras produces Peer to Peer, an annual series of interview segments for the Production Design Branch showcasing the work of its Oscar-nominated members.

She also produces ASC Clubhouse Conversations, a popular educational web series that pairs Society members with prominent filmmakers for in-depth discussions of their work; Inside the Set with Set Décor, an online interview series for the Set Decorators Society of America that features set decorators interviewing their peers and accomplished production designers; Shot Talk
for shotdeck.com, a company founded by Lawrence Sher, ASC; and the podcast In Conversation: Art & Crafts for theankler.com.

Figueras and her Industry Insiders collaborators have won more than a dozen Telly Awards. She received additional Telly and Aurora awards as a producer and performer with the Porkchop Playhouse sketch-comedy group.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Figueras lives in Los Angeles with her husband, AC Editor-in-Chief Stephen Pizzello, and their three sons.
