Richard Vialet Welcomed Into Society Membership

The cinematographer’s credits include the series P-Valley and Raising Dion and the feature Nobody’s Fool.

New ASC member Richard Vialet studied cinematography at Howard University and the American Film Institute Conservatory. As a director of photography, he has worked on projects around the globe, shooting in locations including Cambodia, Bulgaria and Costa Rica, and is known for his popular feature collaborations with prolific actor-writer-director-producer Tyler Perry.

Vialet and Perry teamed up on the romantic comedy Nobody’s Fool, psychological thriller Acrimony and comedy horror Boo! A Madea Halloween


The cinematographer also collaborated with directors Mike Mendez and Neil Marshall on the “Friday the 31st” and “Bad Seed” segments of the horror anthology Tales of Halloween


His other feature credits include the indie features A True Story, The Last Fall and 9 Rides (the latter two of which were directed by Academy Award winner Matthew A. Cherry), among others. His television work includes the critically acclaimed Starz drama P-Valley, BET musical drama American Soul and Netflix superhero drama Raising Dion.


The cinematographer confers with Steadicam operator Aaron King.

In addition to features and television, Vialet’s work also includes commercials and music videos for such artists as Destiny’s Child, Snoop Dogg, Take 6, Bilal, and Najee.
