
Valentina Caniglia Welcomed as New ASC Member

Cinematographer Valentina Caniglia, ASC was recently behind the camera on the feature Jesus Land, starring Juliette Lewis and based on the New York Times bestselling memoir by Julia Scheeres, for director Saila Kariat. She also served as director of photography on 3 Days Rising, a horror-thriller starring Mickey Rourke; the supernatural-horror feature Quail Hollow; the docuseries The Captain, about baseball’s Derek Jeter; and the Apple TV+ drama Dear…
Born in Naples, Italy, she embarked on her career in London and soon moved to the United States to study film production at New York University. Since graduating, she has worked around the world, with credits that include the Palestinian drama Pomegranates and Myrrh, for which she won the Golden Dagger at the Muskat Film Festival; the Italian drama Isola, which screened at the 2025 Cannes Marché du Film; the black-and-white feature Adieu, Lacan; and the documentary The Last Supper: The Sopranos Session.
Her commercial clients include British Airways, Nike and Ford, and her music-video credits include pieces for Aesop Rock, The Roots and Miss Peppermint.
Caniglia was selected for the ASC Vision Mentorship Program in 2019 and worked under the tutelage of Tom Houghton, ASC. She is the first Italian-born woman to become an ASC member.
