Sigma Unveils Its First Full-Frame Mirrorless Telephoto Zoom
Available in Sony E-mount and L-mount, the 100-400mm F5-6.3 Contemporary lens lists for $949.
Sigma Corp. has released the 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary, the company’s first full-frame mirrorless telephoto zoom lens.
Available in Sony E-mount and L-mount, the lens comprises 16 groups and 22 elements, with one FLD and four SLDs used for the effective correction of aberrations and distortions. Its compact size makes it an ideal companion to Sigma’s previously released full-frame mirrorless zooms, the 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN Art and the 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN Art.
The 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary features a stepping-motor system that is optimized for both phase-detection AF and contrast AF. It lists for $949.
Sigma has also released two new teleconverters for use with its mirrorless lenses: the Teleconverter TC-1411, which magnifies lens focal length by 1.4x, and the Teleconverter TC-2011, which magnifies lens focal length by 2x. When paired with the TC-1411, the new 100-400mm F5-6.3 lens functions as a 140-560mm F7-9 AF; when paired with the TC-2011, it functions as a 200-800mm F10-12.6 AF.
The TC-1411 lists for $399, and the TC-2011 lists for $429.
Sigma has also released the USB Dock UD-11 for Sigma L-Mount and Canon EF-M Mount mirrorless lenses. The device, which employs the new USB Type-C connection, allows users to update firmware and customize settings on lenses in those lineups. In addition, users can adjust the sensitivity of MF function speed.
The USB Dock UD-11 lists for $59.
Sigma has also released the F1.4 Mirrorless Trio in native L-Mount. The 16mm, 30mm and 56mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary lenses achieve sufficient bokeh and admirable brightness even with APS-C size cameras, which tend to have smaller bokeh effects compared to 35mm full-size systems.
Each lens has a compact, lightweight body. Stepping motors ensure swift, quiet autofocus for both still and video capture.
The 16mm lens lists for $449; the 30mm lens lists for $339; the 56mm lists for $479.
