ASC Welcomes New Member Natalie Kingston
The Louisiana native won a Primetime Emmy for her work on the Apple TV+ series Black Bird.
Natalie Kingston grew up in New Iberia, La., and recalls her childhood as “a whirlwind of creativity and storytelling.” After earning a bachelor’s degree in mass communications at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, she landed a job at a local television station and commenced a crash course in production. Shooting local commercials and operating the camera for live-sports broadcasts led to work in the camera department on film productions, which eventually led to shooting shorts, documentaries and music videos.
She won an Emmy and received a Camerimage Golden Frog nomination for the series Black Bird (“Hand to Mouth”).
Her feature credits include Lost Bayou, Shapeless, The Shallow Tale of a Writer Who Decided to Write about a Serial Killer and the upcoming Horsegirls.
Her music-video credits include “Break” by Julia Stone (featuring St. Vincent) and “You Should See Me in a Crown” and “Bitches Broken Hearts” by Billie Eilish. Her commercial work includes spots for Adidas, the NFL, Powerade and Team USA.
She was named an American Cinematographer “Rising Star of Cinematography” in 2023.
