2022 Oscar Nominations Honor Expert Camerawork

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced their 94th Annual Academy Awards nominees this morning, including those for Best Cinematography.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced their 94th Annual Academy Awards nominees this morning, including those for Best Cinematography:


Dune
Greig Fraser, ASC, ACS


Nightmare Alley
Dan Laustsen, ASC, DFF


The Power of the Dog
Ari Wegner, ACS 


The Tragedy of Macbeth

Bruno Delbonnel, ASC, AFC


West Side Story
Janusz Kaminski


Fraser was previously nominated by the Academy for Lion in 2017. Laustsen was previously nominated for The Shape of Water in 2018. Delbonnel has earned five previous nominations, for Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (2002), Un long dimanche de fiançailles (2005), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2010), Inside Llewyn Davis (2014) and Darkest Hour (2018).


This is the first nomination for Wegner.


Kaminski had previously earned two Oscars, for Schindler's List (1994) and Saving Private Ryan (1999). He was also nominated for Amistad (1998), Le scaphandre et le papillon (2008), War Horse (2012) and Lincoln(2013).


Fraser, Laustsen, Wegner and Delbonnel have additionally received ASC Award nominations for their outstanding camerawork.


The Academy Awards presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California on Sunday, March 27. You’ll find all their nominees here.
