Cinematography takes Center Stage at Screamfest
Dean Cundey ASC to be honored with Lifetime Achievement Award; panel discussion features ASC members.
On Weds., October 9, Birns & Sawyer will host a cinematographers panel discussion with fright specialists during the 2024 Screamfest Horror Film Festival, which takes place in Los Angeles on Oct. 7-17 at the TLC Chinese 6 Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. — just down the street from the ASC Clubhouse.
The panel lineup includes Michael Goi, ASC (American Horror Story); Mark Irwin, ASC, CSC (The Fly, Scream); Roy Wagner, ASC (A Nightmare on Elm Street 3), Daniel Pearl, ASC (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre), Andrzej Bartkowiak, ASC (Species) and Leah Anova (Vampire Dad).

During the 39th Annual ASC Awards on Feb 23, 2025, Bartkowiak will be honored as the ASC Lifetime Achievement Award honoree and Goi as the Career Achievement in Television Award honoree.
In Oct. 17, the last day of Screramfest, Dean Cundey, ASC will be presented (by a special surprise guest) with their Lifetime Achievement Award, followed by a double bill of his classic horror features Halloween (1978) and The Thing (1982) — both directed by friend and frequent collaborator John Carpenter.
Cundey’s work in the sci-fi, fantasy and horror genres also include Halloween II, The Fog, Escape From New York, Psycho II, the Back to the Future trilogy, Big Trouble in Little China, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Tales From the Crypt, Hook, Death Becomes Her, Jurassic Park, and Casper. Most recently, he has photographed episodes of The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian.
